Song of the Day: Eyes of a Stranger by Queensryche

Eyes Of A Stranger

All alone now
Except for the memories
Of what we had and what we knew
Everytime I try to leave it behind me
I see something that reminds me of you
Every night the dreams return to haunt me
Your rosary wrapped around your throat
I lie awake and sweat, afraid to fall asleep
I see your face looking back at me
CHORUS
And I raise my head and stare
Into the eyes of a stranger
I’ve always known that the mirror never lies
People always turn away
Frome eyes of a stranger
Afraid to know what
Lies behind the stare

Is this all that’s left
Of my life before me
Straight-jacket memories, sedative highs
No happy ending like they’ve always promised
There’s got to be something left for me
CHORUS
And I raise my head and stare
Into the eyes of a stranger
I’ve always known that the mirror never lies
People always turn away
Frome eyes of a stranger
Afraid to know what
Lies behind the stare

How many times must I live this tragedy
How many more lies will they tell me
All I want is the same as everyone
Why am I here, and for how long
CHORUS
And I raise my head and stare
Into the eyes of a stranger
I’ve always known that the mirror never lies
People always turn away
Frome eyes of a stranger
Afraid to know what
Lies behind the stare

  1. One of my top three favorite songs of all time. Too bad Geoff Tate went crazy.

    • So true.

    • When I saw him perform on tv at an M3 festival right before Queensryche split up, I saw the crazy in his eyes and told my husband some switch flipped in him and sure enough it wasn’t but a couple months later that the split occurred and all of the news came out about how nuts he went. The eyes are the window to the soul and I saw it in his eyes that he went psycho. Total shame. I have a picture with my husband and him. We had meet and greet passes. He was always off, even in the early 2000s when we met him. Loved the band, sucks that he ruined them.
